Photography Peer Review - Session 01

Thursday 4th February 2021

This afternoon at 5pm me and four other photographers planned a peer review session to help with our final project ideas and general discussion of our projects. These sessions are to take place with er every two weeks or monthly to see the development of our work and a it's a good way to speak confidently when it comes to presenting our work to lectures and fellow students. I went 3rd in the group and started by showing my results of a survey I created and shared over social media to get the general publics response to beauty salons closing, along with a small statement introducing my practice and what I intended to show for the formative assessment this term.

Peer Review Notes

  1. Great idea to get the public's opinions of the situation and comparing these to the business side.

  2. Try some street photography of the salon buildings, how do they look on the outside and are they boarded up.

  3. Are travelling beauticians allowed to work? Self employed and mobile businesses, what issues are they having?

  4. Look at the difference to hairdressers for women and then barbers for men, appointment booking etc.

  5. Can I incorporate dog groomers into the mix? They are still allowed to stay open for business, is there any relation to beauty businesses?

  6. Potential title name - Curl Up & Dye.

Notes and suggestions by Tom Pearson, Nick Ashman, Jess Hornby and Chris Nutton.

Each session that we have as a group I believe the work shown will develop and improve for myself and others that participate in these online sessions.
