Starting today with the second digital workflow lab which are led by the technicians from the Uni who will give us a chance to develop new at home skills for our final projects in term 3. Using digital postproduction, mark-making and physical drawing, these sessions are a great way to enhance our creative work and development. Starting off with Jamie Collier and a home photographic studio, showing a pre recorded presentation, Jamie told us that the first thing to look for when shooting at home is to look for your natural light sources. These can be windows and doors around your home that let in a lot of natural sunlight and ideally a north facing light as this will stay consistent throughout your day and shoot. Jamie then started to go through the equipment that we should have around our homes to create a studio set up; masking tape, blue tac, iPhone or camera, coloured paper and ironing board (optional).
After setting up the home studio space, Jamie started to place his object (a Peter Rabbit toy) onto his white backdrop and started to shoot with his iPhone 6. The outcomes that Jamie had shown after his shoot came out really wetland again he carried on to experiment with new items and started to back light beer bottles and how to move your set up around your home using an ironing board.

Part two
Using photographic grid techniques
Using all your project images and choosing your best to place into a grid style portfolio and Jamie suggested many ways of presenting your best images as a portfolio; print out your images and place them into a small black box for physical use when applying for jobs and showing off your work and then also the grid method of presenting for a clean and professional approach. Finally, Jamie was able to slickly show us some lighting techniques using a mannequin and his results worked really well.

After watching this session and taking as many notes as possible, I started to think of some ideas myself to produce work at home but I do however have a Newer home studio kit that I purchased at the start of the course during the pandemic to create imagery at home. I really like the way the students have used the grid method to produce small portfolio pages. It has felt reassuring to me to have a lesson on photography during this module due to the fact I've felt very uncertain about this module and how to go about creating work and this session workflow lab has helped with the creation of ideas and styling for my images.
