As part of my University degree I completed a work placement year in Huddersfield town centre. At the company, The Left Bank I became the fashion and photography assistant and my main jobs were to manage the social media platforms by shooting new fashion collections and uploading these onto these sites. I also had my hand in the admin side of the business, answering calls, replying to emails and booking client meetings.
I also had the chance to try my hand at creating some fashion designs for a collaboration project with Danielle Hunt. This involved communicating with Hunt and seeing what designs she would like on her fashion collection, making mock ups, mood boards and creative tasks to get a mood for the collection. I then had the opportunity to create the art work for the A/W collection of jumpers/sweatshirts (artwork below) these came in a range of colours and placed on her website for sale.
I have never had any regret in taking a placement year, I have found that myself and my work has improved, I am more confident in my ideas and creativity. I was taught a lot during the placement from better ways of editing images, lighting products properly and generating new photography creations.
My placement lasted from July 2018 - August 2019.
