Creative Group Project Week 4

21st October 2020

This week on my creative innovation and entrepreneurship module, our group had a small meeting with Simon Poulter and Sara our tutor. We had chance to do a small informal presentation of our business project and explain where we were with our individual tasks. We had some great feedback from both Simon and Sara, mentioning that we are positive group under the circumstances of being a smaller group to the others on the course of only 6 people, (other groups are made up of 8-9 creatives) alongside this they were able to give us some great research topics to have a look at over this week; research human friendly design, urban spaces and future thinking in modern cities.

Notes from group assessment with Simon and Sara

Moving on from our group discussion with Simon and Sara, this week Roddy Hunter sent out the Temporary Contemporary Piazza Unit form. This is a document that as a group have to fill in and explain our business to Kirklees’s Council to arrange a unit space, date and equipment needed for our project. After filling in this form from my final year BA, the group were happy for me to do this again for the project, using my phone number and address on the form and having a meeting on Discord with the team to fill out the questions. Along with the request form, we were also sent a guideline sheet of health and safety rules and also a map of the units available to us to choose from. This gave us as a team the opportunity to see what kind of space our business needed, seeing how big or small our service needed for safe social distancing rules for the general public to be allowed in and try our service.

Tasks from this week for me were to continue with the groups Instagram by adding team members images and development posts. Along with this Shauna has completed a full colour palette for the group to work against in all contributions, I have changed the Instagram logo to a green colour from this palette as we wait for the complete logo created by Chris. Secondly from the feedback from Sara about creating a timetable for the group to work against, I decided to take this task on after asking the team and they all agreed for me to do this. I have created a Gantt chart using Microsoft Excel and documenting the critical tasks needed to be complete for the success of our business. Creating this Gantt chart for the group has improved my time and project management skills greatly, I am able to construct a timetabled plan that includes 6 different creatives time to all gel together along with time to work together. I am proud of the skills I have already but am glad that I have an opportunity to improve and create more solid skills for myself in the future.

From this week of collaboration, task work and group meetings we have found no issues or pauses in the project that we have had to deal with. We as a team are working superbly with great collaboration work between each creative and some amazing development progress being shared with the team.
